Ashleigh Ide / Photo Retouch
Exhibition at the Cafecito Bogota
6/16/09
Last Friday I secured a future show at a local restaurant/cafe here in Brooklyn. Originally I was going to show a series of images from my travels around Prague and the Czech Republic, but it seemed something was missing from that. Determined to find a better reason for a show, I went about my day and kept all creative options open. Well the next day, Saturday, I arrived to photograph the screen test and rehearsal for Mike Smith-Rivera and Kelly Anne Burns' short movie production of Cold April. It became clear that these new photographs would be the only creative option for an upcoming show.

The movie is based on the play "Cold April" by Brooklyn playwright and teacher John McEneny. It is a chilling yet human drama depicting the events of one day in an all-girls school room set in Rwanda at the start of the 1994 genocide. Upon seeing the play and finding great potential in a possible cinematic transformation, Smith-Rivera and Burns took on the tasks of adapting the play and producing it. They asked me to be the set and promo photographer and I gladly accepted.

My show, which will be at 6 PM on Saturday July 25th at the Cafecito Bogota in Greenpoint Brooklyn, will be made up of the candid and portrait images photographed during production.

There are many details to nail down and I will post frequent updates throughout this process.
Upcoming Projects: Late May & June

A few projects I'll be working on upon arrival back to NYC:

June 5th-6th, photographing the band Firecamp's recording session in Brooklyn.

June 20th, I will be the set photographer for the taping of Cold April, the latest project from Burning Clown Productions.

Last weekend in May, chasing around my two and a half year old niece - camera in hand.
New Location, New Updates
5/4/09
Hello from Prague.

I've been in this grand city for just over 6 weeks doing this and that. I've posted some much needed (but still sparse) updates to my retouching portfolio. Unfortunately when I was preparing to come here I wasn't able to bring along most of my portfolio images. I'm working with what I have in that department and will post more when I return to New York in late May.

As far as new photo work, happily there's plenty. I'm currently assembling a new album composed entirely of images I've made since this trip began. The album will be ready to view soon under the places section of my portfolio.

As always, thanks for the visit.
